Nihat Tekin Mosque

Nihat Tekin

The old mosque was built during the time of Mulla Mustafa. In 1996, the people of Tepeköy wanted to renovate the mosque. According to rumors, one of the reasons for the renovation was that the mosque’s qibla (direction of prayer) was incorrect.

The construction of the new Nihat Tekin Mosque was completed on May 20, 1997. The construction took exactly one year. It is the most beautiful and largest mosque among the surrounding villages, and for this reason, it has become a symbol of Tepeköy.

Nihat Tekin made significant contributions to the construction of the mosque and passed away from a heart attack shortly before the construction was completed. Because of this, the villagers decided to name the new mosque Nihat Tekin (as seen in the picture).

The funds needed for the construction were collected through donations from Tepeköy residents, both from within the country and abroad.
